Birthday Cake Shots

It was my girlfriend’s birthday party last Thursday and to make it extra special, I made these birthday cake shots.  I used Three Olives cake vodka, you can also use Pinnacle vodka.  I skipped the addition of the cake mix which is used in most recipes.  These shots were so pretty nobody wanted to take them (that’s a first).  They were also really delicious and tasted like birthday cake.  Make them for your next celebration.

{You need cake flavored vodka, chocolate liqueur, and half & half}

{I used agave nectar to rim the glasses and then dipped into sprinkles}

{Cheers!}

RECIPE:

  • 1 part(s) Three Olives or Pinnacle cake vodka
  • 1 part(s) Godiva chocolate liqueur
  • 1 part(s) half & half
  • Rim martini glass with multi-colored sprinkles
  • Shake with ice, strain into a chilled shot glass

    This seems like a really fun thing to try! The only problem is the link won’t work for the original recipe- I just get a 404. Do you have another link to the recipe that can be used?

      Would eliminating the godiva liqueur be a big no-no? I don’t like chocolate that much, and don’t like my drinks to be very strong (as far as tasting too much like alcohol)–I did buy just regular hershey’s liquid chocolate….

        Hi, you could try that but I find without the chocolate liqueur, it doesn’t taste quite like a cake shot.

    omg this looks soo nom … but any chance of posting the recipe you did? The link seems to be broken :(

    do they sell this liquor at any kmart store? i’m not from the states and im uncertain that they have it here in where i live (Guam)

    • http://missbuttercup.wpengine.com Laura

      Hi Erika,
      I’m not sure because our stores don’t sell liquor. You can possibly buy it online? Wow Guam!

    Do you think the recipe would be good with vanilla almond milk? My boyfriend and a few of his friends are lactose intolerant (SEVERELY). I would much rather have almond milk or soy milk instead if you think it would work.

    If you haven’t had it, Vanilla Almond milk is very sweet (tastes like cake to me).

      Hi Caitlyn,

      I think that would definitely work. The only thing with almond and soy milk is that it might separate since there’s not enough fat. They do make a half and half type version of soymilk which might be creamy enough to work! Good luck! xo

    Hi, I was wondering how you would rim the shot glass with sprinkles, without using chocolate? Or did you use chocolate?

      Hi Danielle,
      I used agave nectar. If you don’t have agave nectar, honey works well too.

    This looks delicious!
    I was wanting to make this for some friends’ birthdays, and buy them all the stuff to keep later too.
    I’m having a hard time finding the Godiva chocolate liqueur though, as there isn’t any stores around me that have it and the link to different brands of liquor on the Godiva website doesn’t carry it either.
    Is there a certain place online you purchased it at?
    Thankyou so much!

    Hi! I was wondering if I could use UV cake vodka instead & Kahlua instead of chocolate liqueur? I know it won’t have the same cake flavored but we’re also adding the cake mix as well.
