I’m a pretty low maintainence girl but during the Winter months, I amp up my beauty routine. The Winter weather can be pretty harsh to my skin and hair so it’s important to take the extra time in the morning and at night to moisturize. I’m a beauty products sleuth. When I go to Sephora and Duane Reade, our local drugstore, I feel like a kid in a candy store. Over the years, I’ve tried and tested many many products. I buy a mix of high and low end beauty products because at this point, I just know what works on my skin. Most of these products I use year round but in the Winter, I add a few of my favorites to keep my skin and hair glowing.
I usually shower in the mornings after I work out and I immediately moisturize with Falling in Love by Philosophy. I’m obsessed with the smell and it stays on all day.
Night time routine: I wash my face every morning and night with Cetaphil. I’ve been washing my face with Cetaphil since high school. It’s mild and perfect for sensitive skin. My absolute favorite indulgence in life is a triple oxygen facial at Bliss Spa. I swear it makes your skin glow instantly. For a similar effect at home, I use this triple oxygen instant energizing mask 2 – 3 times a week. After I wash my face, I use Neutrogena pore refining toner. It’s a great way to remove the access dirt and makeup off your face and it’s gentle for sensitive skin. To bed, I wear Olay anti-wrinkle night cream. Why not start wrinkle prevention now?
Day time routine: The first thing I put on my face is Boscia tsubaki beauty oil. This is the BEST beauty purchase I’ve made all Winter. I put the oil at the ends of my hair to keep it hydrated, on my face to keep it glowing and I even put it on my hands. Contrary to popular belief, the oil does not leave your skin feeling oily only moisturized. Then I put on Kiehl’s ultra facial moisturizer. I love how light and weightless it feels. It’s the best moisturizer for the Summer too. I carry Aquaphor healing ointment in my bag all day. I use it on my elbows, hands and lips. It’s like magic cream and an instant moisturizer.
The extras: I work out a lot so I carry Neutrogena oil-free cleansing wipes with me everywhere. I use it to wipe my makeup off before a workout and after to get the oil and dirt off my face. I hate to admit this but I even wipe my back with it so I avoid backne (acne on your back). I love the fresh pink grapefruit scent which also wakes me up a bit. When I get home for the night, I put on Dr Scholl’s heel repair cream and put socks on. It’s not sexy but my heels have dramatically improved since I started doing this.
