Hotel Spotlight: Villa Salema Bali

After my trip through Lombok and Gili T, I was headed to Bali.  I had never been to the Northeastern part of Bali before so I took a ferry from Gili T to Padang Bai pier.  I booked my stay through Booking.com at Villa Mandala in Jasri beach but upon arrival, it wasn’t available.  The lovely staff greeted me at the gate and with sincere apologies, they said I was being moved to Villa Salema on the same property.

I felt like a celebrity because I was the ONLY person at the property which boasts oceanfront views, pool, and a personal staff.  The villa rental was $75 per night which is cheaper than any hotel I’ve ever stayed in the US.  My driver, who works with the villa, personalized my tour of the Karangasem temples.  He also drove me all the way to Ubud after my stay.

What makes this part of Bali so unique is that there are fewer tourists; probably because it’s a little off the beaten path, there are black sand beaches, there are amazing diving and snorkeling spots, and gorgeous temples.  I wish I had stayed one more night to explore the area more.

Villa Mandala and Villa Salema are hidden gems in the Northeastern part of Bali.  If you want to be away from the crowds and take time to chill, these villas are the perfect place to zen out.  Book at Villa Salema (here).
